Thr borough held a memorial Saturday for Staff Sgt. Eric Christian, a Ramsey High School grad killed in Afghanistan.

American flags were draped from Ramsey homes and businesses Saturday morning as residents, family members, friends, fellow Ramsey graduates, politicians, emergency responders, and military personnel honored Eric Christian, a Marine who was killed in Afghanistan last month.

Ramsey Mayor Chris Botta, Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan, marines, and members of Christian’s family spoke at a ceremony that followed a procession along Main Street. The ceremony remembered Christian, a 1993 Ramsey High School graduate, who was killed in Afghanistan on May 4.

Christian, who was serving his fifth tour, was killed along with Corporal David M. Sonka, of Parker, Colorado, and Sonka’s dog.
