Rotary Club Donates Backpacks To CFA Kids

Back-to-School program will continue next year

The Bergen Highlands-Ramsey Rotary Club Club, which serves the five towns of Allendale, Mahwah, Ramsey, Upper Saddle River and Saddle River, has continued its generous support of a Back-to-School program to benefit local school children in need of backpacks and supplies for the coming school year.

The Rotary Club, in partnership with the Center for Food Action and Ramsey Staples, is providing school supplies for school children who qualify. The Rotary Club is funding the effort, and the Center for Food Action distributes as needed to its locations in Mahwah and Ringwood. Each pack contains notebooks, pens, pencils, holder, Post-it notes and a Dictionary suitable for grades 3-6, all kid-friendly and easy-to-use supplies.

In an effort organized by Rotarian Tom Grissom, the backpacks where packed at Staples in Ramsey and delivered to the Club's weekly luncheon, where they were collected by CFA Manager, Jim James. The Club began distributing backpacks and supplies in February 2010 and will continue the program in 2013. The generous support from Rotary, along with additional fundraising efforts, will enable the BHR Rotary Club to continue this program this fall and provide much needed supplies throughout the 2012-2013 school years.
