Library Dedicates Garden to Longtime Volunteers

Family members of the late honorees attended a ceremony Saturday.

The quiet corner garden outside the Ramsey Free Public Library was filled with joyful memories Saturday as the borough dedicated parts of its garden center to two late library volunteers.

A bench was dedicated to Pat Huot, a former councilwoman and borough volunteer who taught at St. Paul’s for 25 years. According to her obituary, Huot was a Ramsey resident from 1955 to her death in 2010.

A bench and the garden center were dedicated to Robert Peterson, a longtime resident author and former Board of Education member and volunteer. According to his obituary, Peterson, who died in 2006, was best known for his book, Only The Ball Was White, an early history of black baseball before Jackie Robinson.
