'Christmas in July' Drive Coming to Ramsey Bank

Food donations for the CFA will be collected through August 2.

A local bank is working to bring the giving spirit of the Christmas season to the middle of summer.

Oritani Bank in Ramsey announced its annual ‘Christmas in July’ Annual Food Drive in a release this week. Ramsey’s Oritani, and the bank’s other 24 locations around the Northern Jersey, will be collecting food donations now through August 2.

Non-perishables and cash collected will be donated to the Center for Food Action, the Palisades Emergency Residence Corp., and the Human Needs Food Pantry, Inc.

Oritani has shopping lists and special bags that it is encouraging locals to take, fill, and return.

All of the Bergen County Oritani locations will be donating food to the CFA. Last year, the drive donated 441 shopping bags filled with “child-friendly” food items to the organization, the release said.

The OritaniBank Charitable Foundation will also match the amount of any cash or check donations that are made.  In 2012, it donated nearly $2,700.

“Children are among the most vulnerable of our neighbors in need. The response to our request for donations has been extraordinary so far and reflects the caring and generosity of the communities we serve,” Kevin J. Lynch, Chairman, the President and CEO of Oritani Bank and President of the OritaniBank Charitable Foundation, said in the release.
