Ramsey Pool Plans August Amp Up

Ramsey’s municipal pool is looking to ramp up its activity calendar for the second half of its 2013 season. And, according to Pool Commission member Jennifer Lessieu, local bands are helping amp up the pool this August.

The pool hosted its first ever Band Night last week, and has two more planned for August. The first, on August 9, will feature music by The Knightcrawlers.

The second, on August 23, will feature music by Mary’s Basement, and entertainment by Fudgie the Clown, who will provide face painting and animal balloons.

“We are hoping to get more people interested in the pool, and really make it more of a family outing destination,” Lessieu said.

In addition to the band nights, she said the pool has been promoting some of its new features this year, like WiFi, cleaned-up grills, and new volleyball and tetherball courts.

The pool is also expanding its hours because of the super hot temperatures. Last Friday, it hosted a late-night swim, and it plans to do the same this Friday, staying open until 10 p.m.

All of the new pool activities are in preparation for next season, Lessieu said. The borough is commissioning an overhaul of the pool, and in preparation, Lessieu said the pool is working to get the community excited.

“I grew up in Ramsey, and really I grew up at the pool,” she said. “We are hoping to get people excited now, so that next year when we have a grand opening and a pre-planned events calendar, there will be a lot of buzz around the new pool.”
