Truck Driving Along Route 17 Sparks Fire

Officials said the fire was likely started because of an electrical problem.

A tractor-trailer driving along Route 17 North Wednesday afternoon caught fire while passing The Shannon Rose in Ramsey, borough fire officials said.

The Ramsey police and fire departments responded to the truck, which officials say sparked fire in its front engine, likely due to an electrical problem. The fire was initially contained using fire extinguishers until fire trucks arrived, responders said. The fire was contained to the front engine and the cab of the truck, and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire, officials said.

Police closed one lane of traffic while the truck fire was being cleared.
