Cops: Man Being Transported by Ramsey PD Bit Police Officer

Police charged 44-year old Gerald Guy with assault on a police officer and resisting arrest after he allegedly bit a Paramus officer who was trying to restrain him

A Plainfield man is in Bergen County Jail after he allegedly bit a Paramus Police officer while being transported by Ramsey Police to Bergen Regional Medical Center, according to Paramus Police.

Cops charged Gerald Guy, 44, with assault on a police officer and resisting arrest Saturday night, police said.

Guy, who police say was intoxicated at the time, was in the process of being transported by Ramsey Police to Bergen Regional Medical Center with assistance from Paramus Police Officer Don McNair, Jr.

Police say the incident occurred when officers were working to restrain Guy who had become “combative” within the ambulance.

Ramsey Police did not respond to a request Tuesday for additional details on the incident leading up to Guy's transport.

McNair was treated at Valley Hospital for his injury and was later released.

Guy was eventually restrained and brought to Bergen Regional Medical Center. He was later released to Paramus Police headquarters where he was charged.

He was taken to Bergen County Jail on $15,000 bail pending court appearance.
