Ramsey Hero Killed in Action, Laid to Rest

Hundreds come to the gravesite of Marine Staff Sgt. Timothy McGill to pay their final respects to a fallen hero.

The body of Marine Staff Sgt. Timothy McGill was laid to rest Friday at Mary Rest Cemetery in Mahwah. McGill, who was also a Ramsey volunteer firefighter and a National Guardsman, was killed in action in eastern Afghanistan in an apparent attack by a member of the Afghan forces. He received a military funeral with full honors. 

Hundreds of people crowded Mary Rest Cemetery to pay their final respects. The motorcade, led by the Fort Lee Police Department's motorcycle unit, included members of the the Newark Police Department motorcycle unit, the Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department, the Ramsey Police Department, the Patriot Guard, representatives from the Marine Corp., the Jersey City Firefighters Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, elected officials, representatives from other volunteer fire departments, friends and family.
