Homecoming of Staff Sgt. Tim McGill

Procession begins Monday at noon down Main St. to St. Paul's Church.

Staff Sgt. Timothy Raymond McGill, 30, of Ramsey, who was killed in eastern Afghanistan in an apparent attack by a member of the Afghan forces, is coming home to Ramsey Monday, Police Chief Brian Gurney said in a statement. The procession will take place at 12 noon down Main Street and through the center of town to St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church. 

The Jersey City Firefighters Pipes and Drums will be attending the Homecoming. Ramsey Hardware is donating 1000 American flags to anyone who would like to hold one during the procession.

McGill, was a member of the Ramsey volunteer fire department. He joined the military as a Marine in 2001 and was deployed to Iraq in 2005. He was also a member of the Rhode Island National Guard.

Visiting Hours at the church are: 

Wednesday Oct. 2: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

Thursday Oct. 3: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The funeral will be on Friday, Oct. 4 at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church beginning with eulogies at 10 a.m. and followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. The internment will be at Mary Rest Cemetery in Mahwah.
