Aug. 13: Registered Dietitian Sondra Tackett to Present Fiber & Grains Talk and Cooking Demo at Northwest Bergen Regional Senior Center

On Wednesday, August 13, registered dietitian Sondra Tackett will unlock the keys to healthy eating at her "Fiber & Grains Talk and Cooking Demo" at the Northwest Bergen Regional Senior Center. Geared for seniors, Tackett's presentation will focus on fiber's wide-ranging benefits, including helping to lower cholesterol and regulate blood glucose levels. Free and open to the public, the educational event begins at 12:30 pm. The Northwest Bergen Regional Senior Center is located at 46-50 Center Street in Midland Park.

During the program, Tackett, who is the in-store registered dietitian at nearby ShopRite of Ramsey, will prepare and dish out samples of a fiber rich vegetarian meal of ancient greens and grains, including quinoa and amaranth as well as brown and basmati rice. She will discuss the variety of fiber sources available and pinpoint how to make small dietary adjustments in order to reach the daily fiber recommendation.

To register or for more information, please contact Andre Cobb at the Senior Center at (201) 445-5690.
