Should Ramsey High School Install Cameras? [POLL]
The district is planning a presentation on school security Tuesday night
Tuesday night, the Ramsey Board of Education is planning a presentation on a proposal that would up the security measures at the borough’s high school. One of the main components of the plan is the installation of security cameras inside and outside the building.
Though school officials say they have been researching the possibility of adding the cameras and possibly adding other safety features since last spring, last month’s Newtown school shooting has raised sensitivity to school security issues throughout the country.
An act of vandalism at the school earlier this school year also highlighted the need for cameras, district officials said.
Tuesday’s presentation is expected to be a full breakdown of the proposal of what a board committee thinks would be the best way to increase security measures at the high school. Earlier this year, interim Superintendent Bruce DeYoung commented that the new cameras and other security measures might be costly, but that the district has been saving for upgrades for several years.
So, Patch wants to know, do you think security cameras should be installed at Ramsey High School?
