Report: Ex-Ramsey Cop Found Guilty of Child Endangerment

But, he was acquitted of sex assault charges filed against him for a 2010 "fondling" incident of a 6-year-old girl, report says

A former Ramsey Police Officer accused of fondling a 6-year-old girl at a Halloween party in 2010 was found guilty Monday of child endangerment by sexual conduct, NorthJersey.com reported. He was acquitted of sexual assault charges filed against him, however, the report said.

Jeffrey Kimmel, 49, faces five to 10 years in prison, and will be required to register as a sex offender, the report said.

The girl, now 9, testified at the trial in Hackensack, NorthJersey.com reported.

According to the article, the Assistant Bergen County Prosecutor said, “Kimmel called the girl into his bedroom, asked her to lie down on the bed and touched her in the genital area.”

Kimmel’s lawyer said he was disappointed by the verdict, and plans to appeal, the report said.
