Ramsey Firefighters Battle Mansion Blaze in USR [PHOTOS]
Home was destroyed in fire that broke out early Thursday morning
Ramsey firefighters responded to an Upper Saddle River house fire that completely destroyed an unoccupied mansion early Friday morning, Ramsey Fire Chief Randy Sterbinsky said.
According to Sterbinsky, USR authorities are still investigating why the fire broke out at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday.
“The house was empty [when the fire broke out], but there was some construction being done there,” Sterbinsky told Patch. “[Authorities] are still investigating. The think [the cause] might have been construction–related, but they are not sure at this point.”
Ramsey was one of 12 local departments that responded to the fire on Sandstone Ridge in Upper Saddle River, firefightingnews.com reported.
“The flames burned off the attic and roof of the 2 ½ story structure,” the report said.
According to Sterbinsky, the FDs responded quickly, but much of the house was gone by the time they got there.
“We were the first town there to help,” he said. Ramsey often provides mutual aid support to fires in USR, he said.
