Authorities to Perform Autopsy on House Fire Victim

Cops say a dishwasher might be to blame for fatal fire on Talina Court Wednesday.

Police say an early morning fire that may have been caused by a faulty kitchen dishwasher likely killed a 47-year-old Ramsey woman.

Police identified the woman who died inside her home Wednesday morning as Sallie Brady, a 47-year-old borough resident.

The Ramsey Fire Department found Brady unconscious on a couch in the home’s living room Wednesday morning while responding to a fire at her Talina Court home.

Emergency responders performed CPR on Brady before transporting her to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY where she was pronounced dead.

According to Police Chief Bryan Gurney, authorities do not know if Brady died before or after the fire started.

An autopsy is scheduled Thursday at the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office in New York State, he said.

“The autopsy should be able to tell [whether or not the fire caused her death] pretty easily,” Gurney said.

“At this time, there does not appear to be any criminal culpability involved,” he said.

According to authorities, borough police and fire units responded to the home at about 5:47 a.m. Wednesday, and the fire department found the woman inside on the couch in the downstairs living room shortly thereafter.

According to Ramsey Fire Chief Randy Sterbinsky, Ramsey Police crews got to the structure fire early Wednesday morning, and rescued a dog from the home, but were unable to continue into the house because of the fire. FD crews found the woman once they arrived on scene.
