Grand Opening Welcomes tcby to Ramsey

The Ramsey Chamber of Commerce was on hand at the new frozen yogurt shop's grand opening

A 24-year-old entrepreneur was officially welcomed to the community Saturday when the new Ramsey Chamber of Commerce helped celebrate the grand opening of the tcby on Franklin Turnpike.

tcby – a longtime fro-yo company that recently re-vamped its look and moved from a traditional to self-serve model, opened in the Franklin Square Shopping Center last month. This Saturday, the store held a grand opening to formally introduce itself to the community.

According to a release from tcby, the location’s owner, Kishan Kansagra, is a unique franchise owner, and one of the youngest in the company.

Kansagra grew up working in the hotel industry, for his father’s company. But, after graduating from Penn State in 2011, decided he wanted to branch out into the emerging “self-serve fro yo” market.

Over the past year and a half, Kansagra has opened two other tcby locations, one in the Paramus Park mall and one in Woodbridge. According to the release, he is planning to open several more in northern New Jersey over the next few years, as part of tcby’s expansion in the area. The frozen yogurt franchise is adding 85 locations throughout the state in 2013 alone.

Last month, Kansagra told Patch he is excited to open his first freestanding location, and thinks Ramsey is the perfect place for the shop.

“We are really excited to be here, and to become a part of the community,” he said.

Saturday, prizes, games, and the Ramsey Chamber of Commerce helped welcome Kansagra to the community, and introduce Ramsey residents to tcby.
